Home and Office of Peter Zumthor

This is the home and office of Swiss architect, Peter Zumthor. His most famous design is the Therme Vals spa in Switzerland, where the baths all appear around the corner or down some steps. His works are subtle, elegant and loaded with integrity. He usually designs from the inside out, therefore the exteriors are unassuming and sometimes do not grab you (The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2011 is a good example). However, it is in the interiors that the details become prevalent and...

A Client's Selection

La Feline Blanche, Saint Gervais Mont Blanc, FranceThe White House, Daylesford, AustraliaDwell Studio Cooper wing chairMillswyn, MelbourneI really love it when my blog becomes a useful tool - it makes it all the worthwhile for me. I received an email last night from a client who had a scroll through my blog ("a treasure trove" they said) and pulled out several images that they were inspired by (as above). It's easy to see the common elements they like and it was handy to have them with me when I met...

FEM Home from The Netherlands

This is FEM Home - a stylish textiles brand from The Netherlands and they want "everyone to experience the authentic warm feeling of being at home". I love their campaign photos, taken by Paul Barbera, in which FEM have embraced four 'lifestyles' to demonstrate their products in use and they have used some cool interiors here. Snuggling up in blankets is especially appropriate for us here down under going through a crispy cold winter. Keep warm everyone.Photographs by Paul Barbera via FE...

Welcome to this week's Inspiration Profile - her name is Christine Martin and she recently interviewed me for her blog, Somebody's Home, so we made it an exchange and she did the Inspiration Profile for me.Originally from California, Martin is a newbie to the interior design world after being a teacher for 15 years and has recently completed her design studies. She has travelled extensively and lived in different parts of the world, so as a result Martin is interested in 'globally inspired spaces with warmth, comfort...

Los Angeles Home of Amanda Peet from Vogue.

My, it's bone cold here in Wellington this afternoon. What is hard about this cold season is that all the northern hemisphere's publications come out with light and bright summery images - do they really need to do that? Here is the delighful and summery garden/home of actress, Amanda Peet, located in Los Angeles from Vogue. Read the article here.Photographs by Francois Halard via Vogu...
