Luxury Bathroom Furnishings

Check out the detailing and materials on these beautiful bathroom furnishings. I often design vanities for bathrooms I work on, however seeing these designs from Italian bathroom manufacturer, Altamarea just take it to another level. Beautifully detailed (look at that red lined drawer) while using inset marble stone tops to dramatic effect - this makes me want to lift my game.
Altamarea collaborate with renowned design studios to bring about these unique pieces and the furnishings you see here are from the Must Collection - the most luxurious line in their range. Stunning.

Modern Bathrooms with Colour

I first spotted this striking bathroom on Pinterest and as I investigated further, I discovered they were designed by Australian based, New Zealand architects, Pohio Adams. Now with Warren and Mahoney in Sydney, Pohio Adams designed these bathrooms for a modern house in Sydney.
What a great palette of tiles, timber, brass fixtures, industrial lighting with lots of white - it looks so effective.

Health Basics Refreshed

Last week I received a package and it was filled with products from the newly revamped Health Basics personal care range. Nice!
Since then I have been enjoying my Akaroa Sun Shower body wash with NZ milk and manuka honey each morning and washing my hands with Opito Bay Summer hand wash.
The handwash has a useful removeable label revealing a simple white bottle with an understated embossed flower pattern. I like this idea! Good for modern bathrooms and not an eyesore.
The products are New Zealand made with New Zealand based ingredients - think kiwifruit, pohutukawa and harakeke (flax). They are also named after some of the best locations around our country, including Otago Summer Fruits, Wanaka Day Break, Ruby Bay Sunset and many more. I have the Aoraki Snow refill all lined up. Thanks to Health Basics for letting me try their products!

Green Chevron

Here is a great bathroom with its eye catching chevron patterned tiles. The only thing I worry about when I see a basin on just a bench top is where is the storage? Rather essential, don't you think?

Okay - today I'm wearing a black outfit and I'm in the mood for black bathrooms. For you non-New Zealanders and non-rugby followers, today is the start of the 2011 Rugby World Cup here in New Zealand. We have our opening ceremony tonight and the All Blacks (our team) are playing their first game against Tonga. So in anticipation, enjoy these stylish black bathrooms via Remodelista and....from me, GO BOYS!

White Tiled Walls in the Bathroom

I was forwarded these images from a client who is keen to tile her Powder Room walls from floor to ceiling with white gloss bevelled subway tiles. They really do look effective in these spaces.
This bathroom belongs to David Jimenez, a well known US visual merchandiser and interior decorator. See the rest of his Kansas City house here.

Stylish London Home

A Notting Hill home designed by Charles Mellersh.

Kitchen

I am enjoying viewing this stylish Notting Hill home designed by London designer, Charles Mellersh. Harmonious, modern, warm and simple. I especially like the use of brass fixtures in the kitchen - this trend also features in The Shingle House posted earlier this month.
Check out Remodelista's trade secrets here to create the same vibe as this London home.

Bathroom - Vanity Basins with a touch of Colour.

Soft blue with T&G on the bathroom vanity.

In a neutral bathroom, colour on the vanity works well.

The same combination was carried on into the Ensuite.
I met with a client today and when I proposed allocating a soft blue-green onto the new bathroom vanity, she was uncertain about this combination. So I thought I would bring up this bathroom from last year - all neutral with a side of soft blue. Hope she's keen.

Colourful Swedish Bathroom

Bathroom in Story Hotel, Stockholm.

Check out these interesting bathrooms at Story Hotel - a cool downtown hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. I like the quirky use of bold basins and coloured tiled flooring while the rest of the bathroom remains classic and white.

Living Architecture - The Shingle House

The Shingle House is located by a beach in Dungeness, Kent.

The house, designed by NORD, is clad in tarred black shingles.

I have been noticing and reading the coverage (as seen in Dezeen, Remodelista and Wallpaper) about the popular Living Architecture, a social enterprise who are embracing the idea of "holidays in modern architecture".
The brain child of Alain be Botton, Living Architecture offers a chance to rent holiday homes designed by talented architects/designers and are placed in picturesque locations around Britain - what an amazing idea.
Some homes are still in development, including one designed by awesome Peter Zumthor, however, the Shingle House in Kent by Scottish company NORD Architecture is one that is getting lots of attention. Not hard to see why. Beam me there right now...

The stunning interiors are clad in white painted wooden panels.

Loving the hooks on the walls located throughout the house.

Inside Out Bathroom Cabinet

Inside Out Bathroom Cabinet by Freshwest for Authentics

Last week I ordered this cool bathroom cabinet from Authentics (UK) for a client. The Inside-Out cabinet was designed by Freshwest for Authentics and it was awarded Best in Bathroom Product by Elle Deco. The cabinet is a great way of bringing something graphic into the bathroom where it usually lacks it.
