Kitchen Under Stairs

Here's a kitchen that I designed and had installed earlier this year.
Part of this kitchen is located under the stairs and the previous layout had the fridge and storage here - it was awkward and not well utilised. To solve this, we took the existing stair wall (around the corner) to full height and placed the fridge here, then located the cupboards above right along the back wall. This created more bench top space as well as making it feel  more spacious and streamlined.
A granite bench top was chosen (one half of the client is a geologist so very appropriate) - this one is called Kashmir White and it has dappled garnets throughout. It works beautifully with the white cabinetry.

Stockholm Stitch by Laura Thomas Linens

Stockholm Stitch bed linen from Laura Thomas Linens

When I received an email from Laura Thomas Linens about their new bed linen called Stockholm Stitch, I knew I had to share (as well as add to my 'to buy' list).
This new range is in crisp white organic cotton with a smart pin stitched detailing along all the edges (and such a good price too!), it's so simple and lovely - this linen would look great in any bedroom.
Laura Thomas is an expat Scot, who on her move to New Zealand, found a lack of mid-priced good quality bed linen, compared to the UK where white bed linen could be easily found. Hence Laura Thomas Linens was created and their mission is to be leading online New Zealand bedding brand. Sounds good to me.

LTL also have 100% soy wax candles that are handmade in New Zealand.

House by the Sea

This stylish and homely Welsh beach cottage recently caught my eye. Owned and designed by Welsh-born interior architect, Caryl Terlezki, the house has a great nautical feel by using touches of the classic red, blue, white combination.

Norwegian Summer House

Spotted today on Nordic Style is this gorgeous Norwegian summer home designed by Filter Architects. Love the timber and the simplicity. And the bedroom wall lights and black windows. And the outdoor shower. And the black leather Arne Jacobsen 3107 chair...

Home Office

I got a call from these clients last year - they were expecting baby number two and their study was going to become the nursery, so where to put their home office? They cleverly thought about the large dead space at the end of their hallway. So we designed this desk with storage and shelving above to tie in with the existing interior features, re. panelled cupboard door and end panel to match the internal doors, and a chunky heading on the shelves to match the skirting. It turned out beautifully and clients are really happy.

Greece with Claire Lloyd

The latest Inside Out magazine has a great spread on Australian expat Claire Lloyd, a designer, art director and filmmaker, formerly based in London, now in Greece. I have her first book, Sensual Living, which I can see on the shelf as I sit here typing this and she now has a new book, My Greek Island Home. Lloyd, on a whim, brought a home on the Greek Island of Lesvos and this book, as well as the article above, is a homage to all things white, simple and Greek.
