Leather Chairs

Borge Mogensen Spanish Chairs in the sitting roomCheck out this Australian home from The Design Files this week - it is leather chair galore! The interior of this house is fabulous (no surprise as it is the home of furniture designer, Mark Tuckey and his family), however it was the leather chairs that caught my eye. The chairs were designed by Borge Mogensen, a Danish furniture designer who was among the generation of furniture designers (including Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner) that introduce...

Latitude Collection from Armadillo & Co.

Kilim Weave - Nomad in Fern Multi-colourI love a good floor rug and I have mentioned on here before, Australian brand Armadillo & Co rugs tick all my boxes. High quality, sustainable materials, aesthetically pleasing, offer a bespoke service for designers and good business ethics. Now they are to release several exciting projects in February, including a range of rugs that you can see here called the Latitude Collection. You like? I do. The new collection is inspired by the founders' (Sally...

Modern Bathrooms with Colour

I first spotted this striking bathroom on Pinterest and as I investigated further, I discovered they were designed by Australian based, New Zealand architects, Pohio Adams. Now with Warren and Mahoney in Sydney, Pohio Adams designed these bathrooms for a modern house in Sydney. What a great palette of tiles, timber, brass fixtures, industrial lighting with lots of white - it looks so effective. The House in the Woods

Today's posting is about a house in the woods, but not as we know it. These beautiful photographs are by Finnish amateur photographer, Kai Fagerstrom, who ventured in to the woods and came across what he thought was a group of empty dwellings. However, as he later found out they were definitely occupied - by wild woodland animals. Mice, badgers and foxes are among some of the animals that have made themselves at home and they have been beautifully captured by Fagerstrom. He explains...

Ruyi by Hecker Guthrie

Check out this new restaurant - it is called Ruyi, a dumpling and wine bar that has recently opened their doors in Melbourne, Australia. Ruyi means 'as you wish' and was beautifully designed by the clever Hecker Guthrie, a Melbourne design firm that turns everything they touch into design gold. I really like their approach here of simplicity and earthiness to their design - they mentioned that dumplings themselves are simple fare so the fit-out compliments this well. While this is a new and modern fit out,...

Scandinavian Inspired Home in Melbourne

I have previously posted a stylish St Kilda apartment by Whiting Architects before and here is another of their projects that I've just discovered this morning via Nordic Design. There are some lovely moments in this Scandinavian influenced house in Melbourne filled with pieces from Muuto and Hay. I like the dark barn-inspired exterior and the bathrooms. Nice.Photographs via Whiting Architect...

Mark Tuckey Egg Cup Stool

The egg cup stool in a Mt Buller ski home. Photo: Eve Wilson. Here is the latest piece of furniture that I just love - it is called the  Mark Tuckey egg cup stool. I had my eye on this piece last year as it popped up in various interiors I had admired. It's a gorgeous simple form which can be used as a stool or a side table. I saw it again this morning and I still really like it! A good sign that it is meant to be - so onto the wish list it goes. Now just got to figure out a way to get one from...

A Place Called Home

Happy New Year! I am back in the office today and ready to tackle another year ahead. I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoyed a relaxing break. I'm looking forward for the 'real' summer weather over the next few months and have several cool projects to work on. Here is the Bondi apartment belonging to Australian stylist, Jason Grant. Last year he released his book, A Place Called Home, in which he teaches how to decorate your home just like a stylist. The overall vibe of the book is fresh, summery and colourful.  Photographs...
