Golden Fields Restaurant and Bar, Melbourne

This is Golden Fields Restaurant and Bar, found in St Kilda, Melbourne. Recently awarded Best New Restaurant in 2012 Age Good Food Guide as well as chef Andrew McConnell receiving accolades for his modern Asian cuisine - it seems like this is the place to go to. The design of Golden Fields was overseen by Melbourne architectural firm, Projects of Imagination. The brief called for a subtle yet highly considered response - using craftmanship and attention to detail which complimented McConnell's approach to cooking. So when in Melbourne...

Hotel du Marc from Lonny

Reading the latest issue of Lonny magazine, I came across Hotel du Marc which is located in Reims, France. This is the guest house belonging to Veuve Clicquot, the famous champagne brand that we all love, and Lonny shows the results of its 4 year renovation. While some of the rooms are very elaborate, I do like the grand while simple bedroom and bathroom belonging to the 'Chevigne' suite - especially with  its 'dashes of Clicquot yellow'. Read more about the hotel here. By the way, staying at Hotel du Marc is invite only...lucky for some, eh!

Thonet BST 75 Barstools

I have been working on an office fitout and we are using the classic Thonet BST 75 barstools, which will be placed around a leaner made from Amercian ash, for the staff's lunchroom. The seat will be upholstered in leather to give a luxurious touch and comfort.
Here are the same barstools used in the cool bar called Bar & Co in Helsinki - see the rest of this bistro style bar here.

Jamie McLellan for Gubb & Mackie

McLellan modelling Gubb & Mackie clothing along with his Spar Junior light at his desk.

When naval tailor Gubb & Mackie were looking for an ambassador for their new collection, they went to industrial designer, Jamie McLellan.
"Jamie Mclellan is an Industrial designer who likes messing about on bikes and more importantly: in boats. Jamie has worked with the best and now spends his time here, there and everywhere designing everything from furniture, lights, taps to kayaks."
Their new website (launched yesterday) shows McLellan modelling the clothes along with some visuals of his office. Great to see New Zealand talents working together.

Dickebusch Beach House by Koskela

A friend lent me an old issue of Monocle magazine the other day and looking through I came across this beach house holiday rental. Called Dickebusch, this home is located at Patonga, a fishing village located an hour and quarter from Sydney. It was restored and renovated by Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkopsky of interior design firm, Kosklea and they filled the home with furniture and products that you can buy from their showroom in Sydney. Looks like summer time bliss to me.
