Rome Through the Eyes of a Friend

The Capitoline Museum, which overlooks the Roman Forum, in Rome.

I have a dear friend, Adriana who has been living and working in Rome over the last three months. Just recently she shared her album full of fantastic Italian scenes, architecture and street life. Such history and a visual feast! The Capitoline Museum caught my eye - what with all the life-like marble sculptures, rich heavily detailed rooms and elaborate chandeliers - just amazing.
Thanks to Adriana for the amazing sights and letting me share.

Offspring - Nina's New Home

The cast of the fabulous Australian TV series, Offspring.
Nina's home up in flames

The owner and location manager in Nina's new TV home
Do you love the Australian TV series Offspring as much as I do? The third series started here in New Zealand last weekend - and the dramas of the fabulously messy Proudman family continues. At the end of opening episode, Nina Proudman loses her stylish apartment in a fire. So where does she move to? Find out here in this article and video clip.

Geometric Wallpaper

Hicks' Grand and Hicks' Hexagon wallpaper by Cole & Son

It's funny how similar jobs trickle into the office at the same time. Like last week, it was all about kitchens, this week it's all about wallpaper. The wallpaper that has been catching my eye and will be used for a job is this one called Hicks' Hexagon and Hicks' Grand by Cole & Son. This was named after the late David Hicks, an English interior designer well known for his use of bold geometric patterns.

Tiled Alcove

Here's a great way to break up the classic Scandi black and white kitchen - a little alcove with contrasting tiles. I visited a client today who has an existing alcove in her kitchen, just like this one, and we both initally thought we would cover it up, but now thinking otherwise...

Sophisicated Kid's Bedrooms

Here are two kid's bedrooms that I came across via Elle Decor and they belong to the children of actress Reese Witherspoon. I was impressed to see them very chic and sophisicated with antique furnishings. There is a 1830's Swedish table, a vintage chair and 1920's tole chandelier in the girl's bedroom, while the boy's room contains an antique desk, a Turkish rug and an Italian mirror. This is a nice change from the usual young people bedrooms that we usually see.
You can see the rest of Witherspoon's Ojai home here.

Kitchen Under the Stairs

I am calling this week the 'challenging-little-kitchen-design' week. I have two kitchens that I am working on and one of them is located under  the stairs. Here are some great and stylish examples that I found.
